Come Prepared

exterior1

Floating for the first time is a very exciting experience but you may have some questions about what to expect. We hope we can answer some of those for you and explain what your first visit will be like so that you can come into the experience even more relaxed. Here are a few things to consider preparing for your first float.

The best ways to prepare are:

  • Don’t drink caffeine 4-6 hours beforehand (preferably 6).
  • Don’t shave or wax 4-6 hours beforehand.
  • Eat a light meal about an hour or two before your float.
  • If you wear contacts, bring a case, or take them out before you come.

There’s no need to bring anything else with you, we have everything you need here.

Try to be here 5-10 minutes early. If you’re running late, please give us a call. We have to make sure everyone goes in at generally the same time out of respect for all floaters!

You cannot float if:

  • You have epilepsy that is not under medical control.
  • You’ve gotten a tattoo in the last 4-6 weeks.
  • You have a large open skin wound. (There’s a lot of salt. It’ll hurt!)
  • You’ve had your hair colored in the last week.
  • You’re unable to enter and exit the float tank without assistance (unless you bring your own assistant).

What to expect on your first float:

  • Check in at the front desk at least 10 minutes before your float time
  • Turn your cell phone on silent or off before you enter your float session
  • Use the restroom before your float
  • Apply vasoline on any fresh cuts and insert ear plugs before your shower
  • You will shower before your float, rinse thoroughly
  • Dry your face off before you enter the tank
  • Enter the float tank, pull lid down to your level of comfort, lay back and relax
  • Turn off the light in the tank when you are ready, it’s always available for you to turn on during your float
  • Do not touch your face with your hands to getting salt water in your eyes or nose, it will hurt! (we have a towel in the tank for you to use on your face)
  • Focus on relaxing your muscles from your head to your toes
  • Keep your neck and spine long, do not push the back of your head down into the water
  • Use your neck pillow if you have trouble relaxing your neck
  • Music will come on at the end of your session to get you out of your float, then the light in the tank will come on
  • Exit tank, rinse salt water off in the shower, make sure you rinse your ears out thoroughly!
  • After your float, relax for as long as you’d like in our lounge, enjoy complimentary tea and fruit, write in our float journals or browse our book selection
  • We love to talk about floating, please let us know if you have any questions or if you’d like to talk about anything!
